The forum deals with the very personal positions of the backup_festival, respecting the sense of development of digital television and especially the plurality of new distribution channels and portals on the internet. In the forum selected portals, partner formats and moving-image artists will be presented; furthermore, their positions and curatorial approaches will be discussed.

The aim is not to focus on separated cinematic contributions but on the overall view of the participants’ creations. Exceptional works, showing a larger context throughout annotations and disquisitions are in the forum’s centre of attention.

In addition, the forum also offers insights in the inhouse productions of the Bauhaus University. Graduate thesis films or short video and film creations, resulting from project work, are placed in context with other universities, public situations, boundaries and discourses. The forum was created 11 years ago in order to help strengthen an artistic profile for the Bauhaus University. It therefore represents a fundamental pillar of the backup festival itself.
